6/25/2013

Another transfer has eclipsed; Elder Spencer headed off to Hazelwood, and Elder Jensen has come in and joined me here in Tuscola. He came from East St Louis, which is a rough, rough area, to here in the country...about as far away from city life as you can be. He is awesome. He had just finished serving with Elder Elkington, who went back home to New Zealand on Thursday(I'm gonna miss him...he's moving to Utah though, so we'll be hanging out, I'm sure).

Elder Jensen is from West Jordan, and actually not far from my house...We both came out together, so we actually have a lot of things in common, as far as the mission goes. He's super goofy, so we've had fun this week so far.

Since he's been here, we have been working with Laci a lot. We met with her and a member that we have been working on getting fully active again, Jamie, about the Book of Mormon. We had an awesome lesson with them. As we talked with them, we felt we should write a letter to Laci's parents to get the ball rolling so that she can start taking the lessons with us. She has opened up a lot with us and I think she is ready to understand Christ and how He applies to her. There is a talk I have that says nobody seeks Christ, until they know why they need Christ. What a true statement that is...my life has changed once the need for Christ became apparent in my life, and I've only touched the tip of the iceberg. I think the same will happen for Laci.

So really the big news of this week was the broadcast that happened yesterday, from the MTC. The Lord is Hastening his work, and broadcast was a big training for all the world, at the mission, stake and ward levels, of how we can be most effective as missionaries and how members of the church can be more productive with sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who surround them. It was really really good, and there are some new things that are happening in all the missions around the world that will cause this work to progress. They talked a little bit about technology and moving the missionary work from door to door tracting, to doing work on the internet and using IPad's and other technologies...The work is going to move forward! The spoke of using Facebook, and connecting the ward and it's missionary work, with missionaries and their missionary work using technology(probably area book and calandars that is synced between the missionaries, WML's, and the bishops). We are to be actively engadged in a good cause, to flood the earth with the Lord's love and goodness, and uniting each other in love. It's a marvelous work, and the wonders are just beginning...I know this work is true, and I've seen it more and more as I've spent, my time and talents in blessing the lives of those around me. These new changes are going to be great and the Lord is going to do miracles in our lives.

We are having a great time here. The work has been hard, because most of the members are out of town this week, but we are doing what we can to keep working hard and staying productive. I love you all! Have a wonderful week!
